Distant Shores: Angkor, Cambodia

A few zillion photos from our visit to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia.  They include Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Ta Keo, Pre Rup, and Preah Khan.  We definitely did not have enough time there to properly explore, especially away from the crowds, which was a bit disappointing, but overall, it was an amazing archaeological wonder!

Distant Shores: Saigon, Vietnam

I recently returned from a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.  Visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia has been on my travel bucket list for quite some time, so as a (almost) grad trip, I made the long trek over.  Here is a little glimpse into what I saw.  I have waaaaay to many photos, so have divided them up between a few posts.

These first photos are from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam.  We were there in the weeks leading up to Tết (Vietnamese New Year) so the streets were decorated with lights and there were a lot of couples getting married (supposedly good luck!).  Saigon was an amazing, vibrant city, with a real cosmopolitan feel.

Flowers in Your Hair

These are lyrics from Mumford & Sons' "After the Storm".  It came on to my ipod the other day, and the words just spoke to me.  Do you ever have those moments?  When lyrics and reality come into perfect sync and you just want to sing aloud, no matter how crazy you seem?  Well, that was me the other day!
